About Kurt Van Wagner
Kurt Van Wagner's roots in art go back to when he was a youngster living in Southern California. He was a very craft and hobby oriented child. Together he and his father would make mosaics made from glass tiles, shells, and rocks which they collected from the local beach. During this same period in his life he also discovered the hobby of stamp collecting. This opened so many doors for his hunger to learn about the world, it's many different peoples, cultures and it's beauty.
Kurt studied photography in high school. After graduation, he spent the next two summers hitchhiking and traveling by bus and train throughout Europe and North Africa on a student's budget. He captured his experiences with his coveted Yashika camera.
Starting in 1986, he and his wife Jenni spent nearly two years traveling around the world in pursuit of experiences beyond their own local environment. They both learned about the world; it's people and varied beauty through their travel, sometimes working and through Kurt's photography.
In 1999, Kurt bought his first computer. The door opened wide again. Here was the whole electronic world at his fingertips. Nevertheless, being a craft and hobby oriented person, he decided to show people through his eyes how he saw and experienced our vast world. Through his photography and self taught graphic and painting computer programs he transports you to vast landscape scenery, varied places, cultures, peoples and into your heart. During the last fourteen years, over thirty of his artworks have been published in different national and international magazine and book publications.
By experiencing Kurt's art, you go on a journey encountering many exotic lands, peoples and God's true gift to humankind, Life. His recent works with the human figure are his interpretation of man's purpose and meaningful existence in our world; The beauty that is in each and every one of us starting with our physical presence to our souls. That if we pursue our dreams and the gifts that God has greatly bestowed upon each and every one of us, we will know our purpose, find happiness and peace with our existence.
Kurt's art tempts and beckons you to go on the journey he has for you. For you will find an adventure full of beauty, peace and happiness within yourself. For his art is: Art For Your Senses.
